Jerry Kennedy was born in Ogden, Utah, but spent his adolescence in Evanston, Wyoming. In 1967, Jerry graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Psychology. Deciding to further his education, Jerry attended the School of Law at the University of Utah, graduating in 1973 with his Juris Doctorate.
For the next seven years, Jerry worked at Christiansen, Jensen, Kennedy, and Powell. While working there, Jerry almost exclusively worked on many casualty, product liability, and insurance litigation cases. However, the call to own his own firm grew strong. He partnered up with Greg Seal in 1980, thus establishing Seal and Kennedy.
Switching from the corporate legal world, Jerry focused his practice on estate planning, estate settlement, and business planning. However, the litigation bug kept coming around, having Jerry take on many transactional and litigation matters.
Like Greg, Jerry was also admitted to the Utah State Bar. Jerry also was a part of the Utah State Courts, the United States District Courts for the District of Utah, the United States Tax Court, and the Estate Planning Section of the Utah State Bar.
While recognition from receiving the AV Preeminent (highest legal ability and ethics) Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ was honorable, Jerry held his client's point of view and reviews in the highest regard.
In 2017, Jerry passed his hat onto his son Kelly Kennedy, who joined the firm in 2005. Stepping back into retirement has allowed Jerry to spend time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. He now can be found fishing away the day and exploring the great outdoors.
